How to install Binvetec Mosaic Tile

Equipment needed:
• Proper square feet of mosaic sheets to cover the area, allowing for excess
• Medium grit sand paper • 1/16” tile spacers for between square-foot sheets
• Thin-set mortar such as VersaBond
• Trowel (3/16” v-notch)
• Pliers to remove mesh tabs on back of partially used mosaic sheets (fold first)
• Painters tape
• Wood strips (battens) / hammer / nails if bottom row of installation area has no base
• Non-sanded grout (choose color based on your personal preference)
• Rubber grout float
• Sponge

Installation process:
• If there is an electrical outlet in the area, turn off the power to it at the circuit breaker, remove the plate and extend the box out 1/8” by either unscrewing it and putting a 1/8” spacer in the gap by the screws or installing an Electrical Box Extender
• Border off area to be tiled with tape and nail battens in place for bottom row if necessary (you will fill nail holes and touch up paint when job is finished)
• Sand area to roughen it
• Layout tile pattern on floor to prepare
• Make sure application area has straight horizontals and verticals, and create
guidelines if needed
• Apply thin-set mortar on application surfaces at 45 deg, but not on border tape if used
• Place mosaic sheets on bottom row using spacers between sheets
• Press each row of sheets gently with rubber float to make sure sheets are secured
• Continue placing sheets in horizontal rows on top of each other using spacers
• Apply all tiles to mortar before 30 minutes have elapsed since mortar application
• Make any minor shifts to sheets within 30 minutes (before mortar sets)
• Let dry 24 hours
• Apply grout with rubber grout float firmly in horizontal and vertical directions, finishing
with diagonal sweeps to remove excess grout
• Clean grout off mosaic tile with wet sponge after about 20 minutes
• Remove wood strips if they were used to support bottom row
• Remove any tape used to define application area
• Let grout dry 48 hours then clean with wet cloth
• Apply non-porous tile/grout sealer as desired

* Installation techniques may vary depending on experience and preference. If you use battens to support the bottom row, make sure you have lightweight spackle fill and touch up paint for when they are removed. Follow directions on mortar and grout packaging for best practices.
